Kerala women entrepreneurs to showcase success stories

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 5 (IANS): Around 2,000 Kerala women entrepreneurs will showcase at a summit in Kochi their achievements and the role played by Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) in promoting women's entrepreneurship, a minister said on Wednesday.

The Women Entrepreneurs Summit (WE Summit 2015) on November 19, coinciding with the 'United Nations Women's Entrepreneurship Day', will also see over 200 exhibitors and several national and international agencies to observe their progress.

The summit will further strengthen the cause of women entrepreneurs by offering a platform for future collaborations and networking, Industries and IT Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty told the media here.

"Kerala has already made major headway in the economic empowerment of women by creating a proper ecosystem for them to thrive. The 'WE Mission - Kerala' aims at triggering the growth of women-led enterprises through comprehensive support measures," said Kunhalikutty.

The mission is the latest in a series of initiatives launched by KSIDC to promote entrepreneurship after its much-lauded 'Young Entrepreneurship Summit', 'Business Incubation Centres', 'Startup-Bootcamp' and 'Angel Funding support'.

The Summit would see sector-specific discussions, one-to-one interactive meetings and exhibition of products to boost women's entrepreneurship in the state.
