Targus launches new docking station

New Delhi, Aug 5 (IANS): Targus, a global supplier of laptop cases and accessories for the mobile lifestyle, on Wednesday said it was planning to contract-manufacture its products in India and also launched new docking stations starting at a price of Rs.15,990.

"India is one of the top markets for us and has seen a 35 percent year-on-year growth. We are finalising our plans to contract manufacture in India and details will be out soon," said Steve Norman, managing director of Targus in South Asia.

"We feel India is still underpenetrated in terms of IT accessories and we are building our sales channel to expand our presence in the country.

We are training 200 people who will train salesmen in several big retail chain outlets about the uniqueness of our product. Also, we will take this number to 600 by the end of the year," Norman said.

Targus, which has a strong presence in traditional and big-retail outlets, also is looking to double its presence in the non-traditional channel by the end of the year.

"The new SuperSpeed DV Docking Stations are compatible with nearly any devices including all major laptop brands, notebooks, ultrabooks, and tablets including Windows Surface. Designed to support flexible work environment, the new docking stations let users connect their portable devices to a number of essential peripherals while maximizing productivity and comfort," Targus said.

"The recent consumerisation of IT has led to a large number of organisations adopting office management strategies like Hot-desking, Hoteling, Choose Your Own Device (CYOD) and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD).

Targus' range of USB 3.0 devices address the need for accessories that can enhance and accommodate the performance demands of multiple devices, while significantly increasing the workforce productivity," said Manish Aher, director of product marketing at Targus Asia-Pacific.

"Targus is committed to delivering reliable and cost-effective solutions for users to seamlessly access multiple peripheral devices, letting them easily turn their laptops into a complete workstation at the office as well as home," he added.

The company also launched their Grid collection of backpacks.
