Bantwal, Aug 6: A youth who was absconding for the last eight years after being accused in a clash that took place in 2007 was arrested at Budoli near Mani here on Wednesday August 5.
The accused, Ansar, is from Madala near Budoli.
In 2007, cases were registered against 15 persons in Vittal police station in connection to clashes that erupted in Peraje. Two of the accused had gone absconding without appearing in court, and warrant was issued against them.
One of the two absconders was Ansar. On receiving credible information that he had come to his hometown from Bengaluru, the Vittal police arrived at Budoli to arrest Ansar.
On seeing the police, Ansar tried to escape, but the police chased him and succeeded in nabbing him.
The arrest operation was conducted under the guidance of Bantwal circle inspector Beliappa, and led by Vittal sub-inspector Prakash Devadiga and team.
