Maruti-Suzuki to come up with 100 premium showrooms

Kolkata, Aug 6 (IANS): Automobile major Maruti-Suzuki India Ltd on Thursday said it will roll out 100 premium class showrooms across India by March 2016 to cover top 30 cities.

It presently has 35 showrooms covering 23 cities. The company has termed these showrooms as Nexa.

"By March 2016, we will have 100 Nexa showrooms across the country," senior vice president (new channel) of marketing and sales, Partho Banerjee, told the media.

He said the company's new crossover car -- the S-Cross, launched in Kolkata on Thursday -- will be available exclusively in the Nexa outlets.

"These (Nexa) showrooms are targeted towards the customer who has a global exposure, understands the concept of premium and is digitally updated. Above all, these customers are not first-time buyers," he said.

The company has done away with the concept of salespeople in these showrooms and will only have relationship managers who will be the sole point of contact for the buyer.

"We have invested a considerable amount of money to train these people who will develop a business relation with the customer," he said.

Banerjee said the cars purchased from the Nexa showrooms will be serviced in the company's existing service centres.

"Post the sale, the customer will be eligible for doorstep servicing of the car and we'll provide pick up and drop facility. We are also upgrading the lounges in the existing service centres."

Banerjee refused to say if the premium cars will be solely sold through the Nexa outlets.

The carmaker has targeted to sell two million cars by 2020, and said the launch of the S-Cross was a step in that direction.
