Mumbai, Aug 6: The Kannada department of Mumbai University held an oral evaluation of the research work done by Dr Dinesh Shetty Renjala at WRIC Bhavan Kalina Campus Vidyanagari at Santacruz on Wednesday, Aug 5.
The programme was presided by head of the Kannada department at Mumbai University, Dr G N Upadhya. Journalist Dinesh Shetty Renjala presented his PhD research on 'Journalism in Mumbai – a cultural study' and presented an oral evaluation of the recorded subjects on it.
Dr Upadhya in his presidential address praised the research work of Dinesh Renjala consisting of 400 pages. “The achievement of Mumbai Kannadigas has a history of several decades. The Kannada department of the university is one of them. It is one of its kind in the country. Kannada journalism, night schools and hotels have enabled the nurture of the Kannada language.”
Dinesh Shetty Renjala felicitated Dr G N Upadhya who guided him in the thesis with a shawl and fruits.
Kannadiga journalists association Maharastra president Chandrashekar Palethady, senior author Dr G V Kulkarni, Mogaveera monthly magazine editor Ashok S Suvarna and Jaya A Jain expressed their opinions and
conveyed their best wishes to Dinesh Shetty who was honoured with the doctorate.
