Mangalore, Jun 6: A programme was jointly organized by the local chapter of the Institution of Engineers and the Kodagu, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Engineers’ Asociation (KDKUEA) to observe the World Environment Day here on Tuesday June 5.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof B Raghuram of Dakshina Kannada Parisarasakta Okkuta opined that the solution to environmental problems lay in one's own roots. Stressing on the indigenous knowledge of Indians, he lamented that only technical solutions to the problems are being sought.
He further expressed his disapproval over the Nagarjuna Power Project that has been the centre of a raging controversy in the recent times.
Among those present were former NMAMIT principal Prof G R Rai, Institution of Engineers chairman Satish Rao Iddya, KDKUEA working president B Padmanabh Rai and others.
