Himachal CM lays foundation for industrial estate


Shimla, Aug 7 (IANS): Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Friday laid the foundation stone of an industrial estate at Pandoga in Una district, bordering Punjab, an official said here.

The industrial area will be set up under the Revised Industrial Infrastructure Upgradation programme of the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry at a cost of Rs.112 crore, a state government official told IANS.

He said the Himachal Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation would be the implementing agency for this industrial area.

Besides, another industrial area is being developed at Kandrori in Kangra with an investment of Rs.219 crore.

A technology centre is being developed at Baddi at a cost of about Rs.147 crore, the official added.

Industries Minister Mukesh Agnihotri said in a statement that the state government is inviting investments in infrastructure, pharmaceutical, horticulture, agro, food and fruit processing, textiles, tourism and hydropower sectors.
