Mangaluru, Aug 8: Mangaluru south MLA J R Lobo on Saturday August 8 announced various developmental works to be held in the constituency.
Addressing a press meet at his office, Lobo briefed about plans to develop crematoriums, Rang Mandir, computerization of MCC and various infrastructural works.
Crematoriums
"Kadri crematorium has many problems. The roads are narrow and there are problems pertaining to basic necessities. Hence the government has given a grant of Rs 70 lac and many donors are coming forward to develop this crematorium. All the necessary steps will be taken to develop this crematorium," Lobo said.
"In Boloor there is problem with the electric cremation machine. There are very few companies that take up the work to repair electric cremation, but we have contacted a company to repair it. It would be ready by 6 months. If this electric crematorium is repaired maximum problems in Boloor crematorium will be solved," he added.
"Nandigudda crematorium too has some problems. A meeting will be held with MCC officials and a blueprint will be prepared to solve these problems. We are planning a small crematorium in Begre too. Shaktinagar crematorium is the best of all the crematoriums. It is well maintained and all crematoriums need to be developed in the same way. When a person dies, the last rites need to be done in respectful manner. Hence we are making all necessary arrangements to develop the crematoriums in the best possible way," Lobo said.
Kadri Rang Mandir
The MLA said, "Tenders have been called for the construction of Rang Mandir at Kadri and the work will be started shortly. The Rang Mandir will be constructed at a cost of Rs 27.5 lac, electrification will be done at a cost of Rs 3 lac, and gallery and other arrangements will be done at a cost of Rs 5 lac. It is a dream project of corporator Ashok D K."
Computerization of MCC
Informing that the process of computerization of Mangaluru City Corporation will be completed within a year, Lobo said, "MCC is being computerized and all the facilities like paying tax, water bill, application for birth and death certificates and trade licence will be made online.
