Exposition for kids concludes with entertainment, education

New Delhi, Aug 9 (IANS): A unique exposition for children, the Jack and Jill Carnival, concluded here on Saturday evening after a host of events over two days, including fancy dress and painting competitions, storytelling, magic and science shows, and a crafts corner.

Among the highlights was an award ceremony for children who won a painting competition with "Saving the Girl Child" as the theme. Some 1,600 children participated in the competition and awards were given to students of schools such as GD Goenka, Modern school, The Shri Ram School and Apeejay School.

"It has been a fun filled first edition of the expo with kids across age groups enjoying the wide variety of activities to the hilt. We are delighted to see such a great response from both the kids and their parents," said Jyoti Mayal, chief executive of Redhat Communications, the organisers.

"It was also fascinating to see so many young and inquisitive minds and connect with them under one roof. The entire venue was brimming with positive energy. We are certain that the next edition will be a bigger success, where we will inculcate tourism, and education in formative years of kids."

Inaugurated by MP Meenakshi Lekhi, the event also showcased aspects that play a key role in developing a child's personality -- digital detox, entertainment along and other interactive activities to make it a treat not only for the kids but for whole family.

Another highlight was a performance by the laddoo-eating superhero Chhota Bheem. This apart, some 50 exhibitors participated at the event from areas like tourism, food, healthcare, toys, entertainment, education, technology, clothing, and consumer goods.
