India exports coconut products worth Rs.376 crore in Q1


Kochi, Aug 10 (IANS): Export of coconut products during the first quarter of the current fiscal touched Rs.376 crore, said the export division of the Kochi-headquartered Coconut Development Board (CDB).

Significant increase was recorded in the export of virgin coconut oil, activated carbon, dry coconut and coconut oil, said a report prepared by CDB's K.S. Sebastian.

The first quarter figures predict a good show as export of coconut and coconut products in the last fiscal touched Rs.1,312.38 crore.

Incidentally, among the various coconut products, the share of activated carbon alone in the export share stood at Rs.173 crore, followed by dry coconut with Rs.54 crore, coconut oil Rs.46 crore and Rs.32 crore for fresh coconut.
