Puttur, Aug 10: Two women were killed in an accident between a jeep and a tanker near Addahole on Shiradi Ghat here on Monday August 10.
The deceased have been identified as Rukmini (35), wife of Perje resident Vishwanath, and Bhavani (40), wife of the late Guddappa. They were relatives.
Kokkrady resident Chandrashekar who was driving the jeep, a nun identified as Sr Nisha and another lady named Lilly were injured and shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru. Another injured, Vishwanath, was taken to Uppinangady general hospital.
The accident took place when a tanker moving from Bengaluru to Mangaluru rammed into the jeep. The occupants of the jeep were going towards Sakleshpur.
The accident occured on a day when Shiradi Ghat opened for traffic after several months of concreting work. However, the accident did not take place on the newly-concreted stretch but a little distance away, it is learnt.
Puttur traffic police have registered a case.
