Bantwal, Aug 11: The policemen from the town station here have succeeded in arresting three persons relating to the murder of Nasir (28) from Malaibettu in Sajipa Munnur village in the taluk a few days back. Nasir was murdered by four persons, who approached him in the guise of asking for directions.
The arrested accused have been identified as Vijith, Anish, and Kiran, all from Manchi. The other accused, Abhijeet, has been absconding. The policemen are continuing with their effort to trace and nab him.
The operation to arrest the accused was conducted by a team comprising personnel from district crime intelligence bureau and the town police station here. It was led by town police circle inspector, K U Belliappa. Town station police sub-inspector, Nandakumar, said that the accused would be produced before the judge.
Finding out the people behind the above murder had posed a challenge for the policemen, as it happened late night. The policemen had summoned rowdy-sheeters and people known to indulge in crimes to the station and questioned them. But they failed to elicit any clues about this murder. The policemen said they zeroed in in the culprits after conducting investigation from different angles.
It is said that the accused had launched this attack as a revenge, and not for murdering the victim. Reportedly, this attack was in retaliation to an attack which occurred some days back at Salethur in the taluk.
