Khattar to lead business delegation to US, Canada


Chandigarh, Aug 11 (IANS): Heads of various business organisations in Haryana will be a part of the delegation led by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to the US and Canada for a 10-day investment-seeking trip. The tour begins on August 16.

Haryana Industry and Commerce Minister Captain Abhimanyu will also accompany the delegation, an official spokesman said here on Tuesday.

The delegation will visit New York, Washington, San Francisco (in the US), Vancouver and Toronto (in Canada).

"It will hold deliberations with leading industrialists of the US and Canada and non-resident indians (NRIs). The objective would be to attract investment for Haryana," the spokesman said.

The state seeks investment in areas of food processing, Information Technology and IT Enabled Services (ITES), solar energy and renewable energy, mass rapid transport, skill development, defence production in aero space and defence equipment, electronics manufacturing, garments and textile, auto components, industrial parks, logistics, medical tourism, healthcare and pharma sectors.

"Apart from this, the delegation would also hold meetings with the US Indian Business Council (USIBC) and Canada India Business Council (CIBC)," the spokesman said.

"The officials of business organisations that would be part of the high level delegation include chairmen, chief executive officers (CEOs), managing directors and regional directors of various business entities located at Gurgaon, Yamunanagar, Faridabad, Karnal and Rohtak," he said.

Senior officers of the Haryana government will also be a part of the delegation. The visit will end on August 24.

This is the first foreign visit of Khattar after taking over as the first BJP chief minister in Haryana in October 2014.
