New Delhi, Aug 11 (IANS): Over five lakh children have been vaccinated in the northeast under the Mission Indradhanush immunisation programme, the government said on Tuesday.
More then 50,000 pregnant woman have also been vaccinated under the programme, Health Minister J.P. Nadda said in response to a question in the Rajya Sabha.
"The government has conducted four rounds of Mission Indradhanush in 33 high-focus districts of the northeast, targeting areas with partial immunisation and no immunisation. During these rounds, 5.6 lakh children and 0.53 lakh pregnant women were vaccinated," he said.
"The government provides financial support to the states/UTs for strengthening and upgradation of healthcare infrastructure based on the proposals submitted by the states in their Programme Implementation Plans," he said.
