Mangaluru, Aug 11: 'Inspire Award-2015' a-four-day district level competition of science model and exhibition for higher primary and high school students, organised by Science and Technology Department, Delhi, Directorate of State Education Research and Training, Bengaluru and District Education and Training Centre, Mangaluru, was inaugurated here on Tuesday August 11 at Scouts and Guides Bhavan.
Zilla panchayat president, Asha Thimmappa Gowda inaugurated the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Asha Thimmappa said, “In the remembrance of late Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, the four day science exhibition has been organised. The government is helping us to fund such programmes to promote research in the field of science in children. The students who are taking part in this competition must utilise this opportunity. With the help of science, we can do lots of innovations. But all the innovations should be for the betterment for the society in the future”.
Speaking on the occasion, Capt Ganesh Karnik, MLC, said that late Dr APJ Abdul Kalam had dreamt about achieving something big in his childhood. “He is an inspiration for all of us. Our country's future lies in the hands of the students. Students should build a brighter future for the nation”.
In his presidential address, Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo said, “In your childhood days, you should be interested in science and innovations. You have to keep this kind of interest throughout your lives. Success never comes easily. You must strive for it. Participation is very important thing”.
Science Model Competition and exhibition is held at Canara School, Mannagudda.
MLC Ivan D'Souza, Jayanthi Achar, DC A B Ibrahim, S S Kamath, S Nagendra Madhyastha, Walter H D'Mello, Cyprian Monteiro and others were also present on this occasion.
