Mangalore, Jun 12: A music system and a fountain were inaugurated at Mahatma Gandhi Park in Gandhi Nagar here on Monday June 11.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, MLA N Yogish Bhat elaborated on a multi-crore tourism development project in and around the city for which the administration has sought a public-private partnership.
The project includes upgrading the Valencia and Kadri parks with laser musical fountains, library and rock gardens.
A golf course and marine aquarium at Tannirbavi beach along with boat houses and musical show on Rani Abbakka have also been planned, he said.
He further said that a sum of Rs one lac has been reserved for maintenance of the park. He lauded the efforts of the Gandhi Nagar Park trust in renovating the park.
As many as 418 people have contributed to the renovation of the park. A terracotta sculpture of grandmother narrating stories to children made by Venkataramana Kamath was also unveiled on the occasion.
MCC assistant commissioner Ajit Hegde was present.
