Independence day celebrated at Lourdes central school

Mangaluru, Aug 16: Independence was celebrated with great enthusiasm and respect at Lourdes central School,Bejai,Mangalore. The ceremony started at 8 AM in the school open ground with large crowd of staff, students and parents.
















Chief guest Dr Kripa Amar Alva, manager of Lourdes Central School Fr Wilson Vitus D’souza, principal Fr Robert D’souza, vice principal,Belita Mascarenhas, Nirmal D’souza and Charlotte Patrao, the president and secretary of parish pastoral parishad respectively, PTEC the vice president Preethi Ballal and members of school management committee were escorted by the school band.

The principal welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest.

To commemorate the sovereignty of our nation, the chief guest unfurled the tricolor flag and all in unison sang the national anthem and expressed the joy of freedom.

Manish Bhat of class 10 shared his views on the significance of the day. The students of choir group sang the patriotic song that awakened everyone’s feelings towards our mother land. Dr Kripa Amar Alva said “I am happy to notice that today’s students think about the freedom and it is necessary to inculcate within us. The true freedom means when we make our country corruption free.”

Fr Wilson Vitus D’souza addressed the gathering and quoted the famous lines of poem written by Nobel laureate Dr Rabindranath Tagore.

The Programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Adhitha of class 10. At the end sweets were distributed to the students. As a token of love and concern the students visited Sneha Sadan and Prashanth Nilaya ashrams later.
