Mangalore, Jun 13: Every one was busy with their work when ammonia leaked out in a plant at MCF at Panambur here on Wednesday June 13 morning. Immediately, fire brigade rushed the point, poured water and averted a major tragedy.

Nothing to panic however, as this was part of a mock drill organized by the National Disaster Management Authority, to check the preparedness to face the disasters.

Meanwhile a truck rammed into pipeline at NMPT. Immediately, the rescue team rushed to the point. Owing to the heavy wind from north-east direction, ammonia had spread almost three kilometres away from the plant.

Hence, the ambulances went to Tokur and Kenjar to evacuate the people from there, who would have been affected owing to the disaster. Slowly, everything was brought under control.

Bharath Scouts and Guides office at Lalbagh was used as control post for this mock drill.

Later speaking with press persons at NMPT guest house, Brigadier Khanna of National Disaster Management Authority said that, such kind of mock drill is organized to access the preparedness to face any kind of disaster. Every organization should be ready to face any type of disaster which may occur at any time, he said.
