Resident doctors of Safdarjung to meet health secretary

New Delhi, Aug 18 (IANS): A delegation of the resident doctors from Safdarjung hospital will meet the health secretary B.P. Sharma on Tuesday to discuss the transfer of the hospital's medical superintendent Rajpal.

"We will meet the health secretary today (Tuesday) evening and urge him to cancel the transfer of Rajpal sir, who has done great works for the Safdarjung hospital. His transfer to the Delhi government is completely injustice to him," a senior resident doctor told IANS.

He said the delegation has also sought an appointment with the health minister J.P. Nadda, however, the meeting would be possible only if the appointment is fixed.

Rajpal has been replaced by A.K. Rai, a senior ENT surgeon of the Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) hospital.

Following the development, resident doctors of the hospital had decided to go on an indefinite strike, which was later cancelled on Rajpal's request.
