Progress of India, China must be mutually supportive: Envoy

Beijing, Aug 18 (IANS): As two emerging global powers, the progress of India and China must be mutually supportive, India's ambassador to China Ashok Kantha said on Tuesday.

During a visit to the office of the leading China Daily newspaper, the Indian envoy said that "as two major poles in the emerging global architecture, our progress should be mutually supportive".

An Indian embassy statement later said that "the ambassador talked about the growth of India-China relations, especially in the context of a closer developmental partnership agreed to between the two countries".

He also said that in order to realise the full momentum of the growth of bilateral relations, expanded engagement between businesses, think-tanks and media of the two countries was important.

The ambassador was received by Gao Anming, deputy editor-in-chief of China Daily, who gave a briefing on the reporting operations of the newspaper.
