New Delhi, Aug 19 (IANS): Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived here on Wednesday to attend the funeral of Indian President Pranab Mukherjee's wife Suvra Mukherjee, an official said.
Vikas Swarup, the official spokesperson of the ministry of external affairs, said: "A leader comes to pay respects. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj receives PM of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina at the airport."
Swarup also posted a photograph of the two leaders at the airport.
Hasina, in a statement earlier, had said she was profoundly shocked at the demise of Suvra Mukherjee and offered her condolences.
Suvra Mukherjee died in Delhi on Tuesday after prolonged illness.
Scores of people -- leaders of political parties, government and military officials as well as common people -- had gathered at 13, Talkatora Road here on Tuesday evening to pay tributes to her.
