11 dead in China rains


Beijing, Aug 20 (IANS): At least 11 people have been killed and 13 are missing after intermittent rains battered China's Sichuan province, a media report said on Thursday.

The rains and flood since Sunday have affected 564,000 people in 16 counties of six cities, with Xuyong county of Luzhou city suffering the most, according to the provincial flood control and drought relief headquarters, Xinhua news agency reported on Thursday.

A search operation has been launched to find the missing people.
