Washington, Aug 20 (IANS): A US woman has confessed to killing her three sons over the past year as she believed that her husband "ignored their daughter", a media report said.

According to local TV station WBNS, Brittany Pilkington, arrested on three murder charges on Tuesday, had already confessed to killing her three sons, including two infants and a four-year-old, because she felt that their father was not paying enough attention to their daughter, Xinhua reported on Thursday.

Pilkington called 911 on Tuesday to report that her three-month-old baby Noah had stopped breathing.

After police officers realised that it was the third time in the past 13 months that they had been dispatched to the same address to handle the death of young boys, an investigation was launched.

Soon after prosecutors questioned her, Pilkington told them that she had suffocated all three boys with a blanket.

Police officials said the woman may have committed the crimes out of jealousy after she believed that her husband favoured the boys over her and their daughter.
