Udupi: Youth commission celebrates Parisarothsav

Udupi, Aug 20: In support of Pope Francis encyclical on environment 'Laudato Si' and 'Swacch Bharat abhiyaan', Youth commission Udupi diocese took an initiative to celebrate Parisarothsav on August 15.































According to this initiative all the youth groups under youth commission (ICYM and YCS) were asked to take part in this campaign in their respective parishes. The following campaigns were held on different themes by the parishes.

1. Awareness about dengue and other diseases- Youth conducted a rally on awareness about the relation between cleanliness and diseases like dengue etc. Talks were given on preventing stagnation of water, elimination of larvae of mosquitoes and keeping the surroundings clean.

2. Cleaning of church campus- The church premises were cleaned by the youth in their parishes. The church garden, ground and surroundings were cleaned and also new plants were planted by the youth.

3. Waste management- With the help of municipality and other social organizations youth cleaned the waste along the road and public areas.

Besides these programmes, youth of other parishes cleaned their school campus, public places, bus stands, conducted rallies on the importance of plants, effects of green house gases and increase of vehicles.

There was a positive response from the parishioners of all the parishes and the work of the youth was appreciated by all.
