Uttar Pradesh, Aug 20 (PTI): A 13-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly sexually assaulted and murdered by a man in Hardoi district, just over 100 kilometres away from Uttar Pradesh's capital, Lucknow, according to police sources.
The girl had left her house in Fatiyapur village at around 1pm yesterday to buy some medicines for her father. When she did not return home after some time, her father went looking for her, but she could not be traced, said sources.
The father finally found her dead body in a field, and it had stab marks on her eyes and private parts.
According to the family members of the girl, the man had shoved a dupatta in her mouth and raped her. She was then stabbed with a knife in her eyes and private organs, before the man went absconding.
The incident has the entire village up in arms.
The body has been sent for postmortem, local police is investigating the case.
