One injured as thief opens fire in Hyderabad


Hyderabad, Aug 20 (IANS): One person was injured when a thief opened fire to avoid arrest here on Thursday.

Police, with the help of some people around, apprehended him but his accomplice managed to escape.

The incident occurred on Road No. 36, Jubliee Hills creating a flutter in the posh area.

Police were checking vehicles following a tip-off. As two people on a bike were asked to stop, one of them opened fire in the air, injuring an employee of L&T working on Hyderabad Metro Rail project.

The injured was taken to a hospital, where his condition is stated to be stable.

The arrested man has been identified as Faheem. Police launched a massive hunt to apprehend the other person.

They were suspected to be members of an inter-state gang of thieves from Raichur in Karnataka.
