Germany's benchmark DAX index closes down


Frankfurt, Aug 21 (IANS): The benchmark DAX index at Frankfurt Stock Exchange continued to decline as it lost almost 250 points.

The doubt about the global economic growth is increasing among investors, which brought the blue-chip index down, according to local analysts.

It fell by 249.96 points, or 2.34 percent, and closed at 10,432.19 points on Thursday, Xinhua reported.

All the 30 DAX member shares suffered losses. The utilities company RWE AG St lost 0.2 percent, the smallest margin among all the member shares.

On the other hand, Deutsche Boerse AG topped the list of losers, down by 3.65 percent. Deutsche Telekom AG plunged by 3.57 percent Commerzbank AG declined by 3.54 percent. Allianz SE slipped by 3.51 percent and Fresenius Medical Care AG & Co. went down by 3. 47 percent.

The turnover stood at 4.67 billion euros (around $5.16 billion). Daimler AG was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 396.09 million euros (around $437.84 million).
