43 civilians killed in Yemen bombing

Sanaa, Aug 21 (IANS): At least 43 civilians, among them women and children, were killed on Friday amid airstrikes in southwestern Yemen launched by the Saudi-led Arab coalition.

SABA Yemeni news agency, controlled by the Houthi Shiite rebels, said that dozens of civilians were killed in the raids and that five residential buildings were damaged.

In July, the exiled Yemeni government announced the liberation of the southern city of Aden from the Houthi rebel group and its allied forces.

Yemen has been engulfed in armed conflict since last September, when the Houthis took over the capital, Sanaa, among other areas, and forced Yemeni President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi to flee to Riyadh in March.
