China blasts toll rises to 129


Beijing, Aug 24 (IANS): The toll in the deadly blasts in a warehouse in China's Tianjin city has risen to 129, with 44 still remain missing, the rescue authorities said on Monday.

All the dead have been identified, including 76 firefighters, seven policemen and 46 others. The missing people include 28 firefighters, four policemen and 12 others, reported Xinhua news agency.

Meanwhile, 610 people remain hospitalised, 39 in critical condition.

Two blasts ripped through a warehouse storing dangerous chemicals in China's Tianjin Port around 11.30 p.m. on August 12.

Personnel are cleaning up the site while investigators look into the cause of the incident.
