Three killed in Afghanistan blasts

Kabul, Aug 24 (IANS): Two civilians were killed and four others injured in a bomb blast in Afghanistan's Takhar province on Monday, an official said.

"An explosive attached to a motorcycle went off in Ishkamish district local bazaar, killing two people," Xinhua quoted the provincial government spokesman, Khalil Aseer as saying.

Earlier on Monday, a policeman was killed and two others were wounded in a similar attack in Jawzjan province, provincial police chief Faqir Mohammad Jawzjani said.

The Taliban-led insurgency has been rampant since mid-April when the militant group launched its so-called annual spring offensive in different places of the militancy-plagued country which has claimed hundreds of lives.
