Putin to meet Arab leaders in Moscow


Moscow, Aug 24 (IANS): Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi along with King Abdullah II of Jordan and the crown prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed Al-Nahyan, in a series of talks starting on Tuesday in Moscow.

Putin's meeting with King Abdullah will pay special attention to the implementation of joint projects, including the construction of the first Jordanian nuclear power plant, Efe news agency cited a statement released by the Kremlin on Monday.

The two leaders will also discuss international and regional issues, including the Syrian conflict and the fight against Islamic State terrorist group.

Talks with Crown Prince Al-Nahyan, also the deputy supreme commander of the armed forces of the United Arab Emirates, will focus on enhancing security and stability in the Middle East and North Africa, in addition to bilateral cooperation in energy and investment.

Putin will also hold talks with President Al-Sisi on Wednesday, part of a week-long summit requested by Putin regarding Russia's ties with Arab countries and the threat of terrorism.
