Alka Lamba assault: Police submit report to DCW

New Delhi, Aug 24 (IANS): Delhi Police on Monday submitted a detailed status report to the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) in connection with the assault on AAP legislator Alka Lamba.

The AAP legislator from Chandni Chowk and Kashmere Gate police station house officer (SHO) appeared before DCW chief Swati Maliwal, where the SHO submitted a 40-page detailed status report.

"Lamba and SHO Kashmere gate today (Monday) appeared before the DCW, as they were asked to. The SHO submitted a 40-page detailed report which we are studying," said an official of the DCW.

"DCW will communicate after going through the status report," he said.

The official said the SHO, however, failed to submit the CCTV footage of the incident.

Lamba suffered a head injury when a 19-year-old boy, working at a sweet shop, hurled a stone at her during an anti-drugs drive at Kashmere Gate on August 9. The assailant was arrested.

The SHO was asked by the DCW to submit a report in connection with Lamba's complaint against BJP legislator O.P. Sharma, for using disgraceful language against her following the August 9 incident.
