Mangalore, Jun 19: Senior and well-known yakhagana artiste 'Pervodi' Narayana Bhat will be honoured with Yaksha Kalanidhi award given by Academy of Thenka Thittu Yakshagana. The award consists of Rs.12, 000 in cash, memento and citation letter.
Pervodi Narayan Bhat has served in Thenku Thittu yakshagana troupe for over 7 decades, as comedy artiste. It was here that he came to be called as 'Perovodi'.
The award presentation ceremony will be held at Town Hall, attended by union planning minister, M V Rajashekaran,. as chief guest. State Kannada and culture minister, Mahadevaprasad, will be inaugurating Rastriya Thenkana Yakotsav-2007 on the occasion. State endowment commissioner, T Sham Bhat, will be presiding over the function. It will be attended by Dr Purushottam Bilimale, director, American Institute of Indian Studies and president, Delhi Karnataka Sangh.
