Mangalore, June 19: Minister for fisheries and endowment B Nagaraj Shetty stated that the Revenue Department will soon be organizing special adalats to deal with various departmental issues. He was speaking at the quarterly review meeting of the Karnataka Development Programme (KDP) here on Saturday, June 16.
Presiding over the said meeting he said that steps will be taken to rejuvenate the functioning of the Land Appellate Tribunals as well as the “Akrama-Sakrama” committees in the district, so that people’s problems are redressed and are provided much needed relief. The minister told the deputy commissioner M Maheshwar Rao to instruct the tahsildars to conduct special adalats to deal with cases pertaining to people’s records. Rao responded stating that people could obtain their records from the “Nemmadi” centres at the hobli-level in the Bhoomi kiosks at the taluka level.
As regards sanitation projects, Nagaraj Shetty directed Zilla Panchayat CEO A M Kunjappa to ensure the completion of all sanitation campaigns in the district, latest by the end of March next year. Kunjappa responded that was being implemented in all 203 gram panchayats in the district and had been successfully completed in 49 gram panchayats. Under this project all households in the 203 gram panchayats will be having their own toilets.
Mr. Shetty even exhorted the authorities to look into the possibility of coming up with similar schemes for cities too, as he felt that a lot of households within the limits of Mangalore City Corporation’s jurisdiction as well as various local civic bodies were without proper toilet facilities.
