250 Indian businessmen to participate in Nigeria event

Abuja, Aug 25 (IANS): A team of 250 Indian businessmen will participate in a three-day India Show beginning in Nigeria on Tuesday, a media report said.

According to the Indian High Commissioner in Nigeria, Ajjampur R. Ghanashyam, the team will be in Nigeria from August 25-27 and will meet top Nigerian government officials and businessmen to discuss investments.

Based on the theme "Building Relationships to Nurture Growth between India and Nigeria", the event will be held at Eko Hotel in Lagos, allafrica.com news portal reported on Monday.

The Indian businessmen will discuss investments in different sectors, including power, agriculture and engineering.

"Nigeria is a re-emerging economy. In the 1970s, there were many industries in Nigeria, hence, what is needed is to revive that sector," Ghanashyam said, adding that the country needs strategic partnership to revive its economy.

He said that it is vital for Nigeria to improve its power supply because it determines the growth of the economy.

The event is supported by the Indian High Commission and the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), the report said.
