Defence Acquisition Council to meet on Friday


New Delhi, Aug 28 (IANS): Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar will on Friday chair a meeting of the Defence Acquisition Council, which is likely to clear some key proposals for defence acquisition.

The meeting may also take up the deal for buying 36 ready to fly Rafale jets from France, as sources said government wants it to be clear before French Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian visit to New Delhi on Tuesday.

After the NDA government took power in May 2014, the council has cleared defence purchases worth over Rs.1.5 lakh crore.
