Defence Acquisition Council meet ends abruptly

New Delhi, Aug 28 (IANS): A meeting of the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) ended here abruptly on Friday as Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar reportedly left for Goa, sources said.

Sources also said the minister left for another meeting, but it was unclear to which meeting he rushed to.

According to sources, some of the agenda of the meeting was taken up. However, the minister had to leave suddenly, and the meeting was deferred.

There was speculation of a meeting being scheduled between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the defence minister over the 'One Rank One Pension' issue, but sources said the defence minister left for Goa later in the evening.

The DAC clears proposals for defence acquisition. The meeting is now expected to take place next week, most likely on Tuesday.
