Report offence, get rewarded: Delhi Traffic Police


New Delhi, Aug 29 (IANS): Delhi Traffic Police are launching "Jansahayog Scheme" aimed at involving Delhiites in the campaign for road safety and keeping a check on rising traffic violations in the national capital, it was announced on Friday.

"The scheme is to report traffic violations committed by motorists. Special incentives like free vouchers of movie tickets, dinner etc will be given to responsible citizens who report 100 violations on Traffic Police's Whatsapp Number 8750871493," Special Commissioner of Traffic Muktesh Chander said.

"As a first step a member from general public has to get himself or herself registered as active participant on Traffic Police's Whatsapp," Chander said.

"The registered participants can report offences like rider or pillion without helmet, triple riding, yellow line violation, stop line violation, driving against traffic, parking on footpath, defective number plate etc," he said in a statement.

"On completion of 50 and 75 points, alerts shall be sent to participants and they will be rewarded suitably," he said.
