No major rain ahead in Himachal


Shimla, Aug 30 (IANS): No major rainfall was reported in Himachal Pradesh for the past one week and similar conditions would continue the coming week too, a weather official said on Sunday.

Precipitation occurred at a few places since Saturday, but there was no appreciable change in the minimum and maximum temperatures, the official told IANS.

The weather bureau said the towns of Shimla, Kufri, Kalpa, Palampur, Dalhousie and Manali recorded no rain.

However, Dharamsala received 13 mm of rain, while Kumarsain town in Shimla district got six mm of rainfall.

"The monsoon will remain subdued in the region till September 5," the official added.

The state capital recorded a maximum of 25 degrees Celsius, while it was 28.6 degrees in Dharamsala and 25.6 degrees in Kalpa in Kinnaur district.
