Tokyo stocks fall

Tokyo, Aug 31 (IANS): Tokyo stocks fell 1.05 percent in the morning session of Monday as soft Japanese industrial output data stunted investor sentiment.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was down 200.75 points, or 1.05 percent, from Friday to end the morning at 18,935.57. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange lost 12.02 points, or 0.78 percent, at 1,537.78, reported Xinhua.

Decliners were led by insurance, machinery and iron and steel issues.
