Taiwanese delegation meets Indian students

New Delhi, Sep 1 (IANS): A 20-member Taiwanese delegation on Monday interacted with Indian students from various universities.

The main aim of the "youth ambassadors" was to develop and deepen the relationship with India and create more exchange programmes.

"We are here to promote people-to-people communication and develop the relationship with India," Bruce Fuh, head of the delegation, told IANS.

The head of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India said more than 600 students go to Taiwan every year to pursue graduate and post-graduate courses.

"There are many exchange programmes but we need to enhance the basic relationship by participation of students in the education sector from both India and Taiwan," said Yi Ta, a member of the delegation.

The delegation met students at Amity University, Noida.

They will later visit Jawaharlal Nehru University and Jamia Milia Islamia in Delhi, and also go to Chennai and interact with students at the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras.

The Taipei Economic and Cultural Center is going hold a cultural event 'Taiwan Night' here, where students from both India and Taiwan will perform.
