13 held guilty for Paul Muthoot murder

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 1 (IANS): A special CBI court here on Tuesday pronounced 13 accused guilty for the 2009 murder of Paul Muthoot George, who was stabbed to death.

The court said nine people were directly involved in the killing while four were guilty of destroying evidence. One man was set free.

A bachelor, George, 32, belonged to the wealthy Muthoot business family, and his killing near Alappuzha on August 21, 2009, had created a sensation in Kerala.

He was then in a car with Om Prakash and Rajesh, two men who face several criminal cases.

The Central Bureau of Investigation, which took up the case in January 2010, held that the person who stabbed George to death was K. Satheesh.

The provocation came after George's speeding vehicle knocked down a two-wheeler. The accused and his friends who saw the accident followed George, stopped him and, after a verbal duel, killed him.

The killer gang was on its way to eliminate another person when they ended up murdering George.

The CBI held a total of 18 people guilty in this and another case.

Only 10 miles away from my home, from my early days while attending the world famous Maramon Convention at Kozhencherry, the Muthoot Chit fund was noticed out of my sheer curiosity.

Among the many "chit" businesses in Kerala, the Muthoot business began to grow
very rapidly and now their name is known all over India and in other countries too.

Sri. George was the real pioneer of the business (grand father of Paul George), do remember him like yesterday wrapping over his shirt the white kurtha with a big pot belly. They were getting prominent in the Orthodox Church, and he became a board member of the Orthodox college where I have studied. Later on his son (father of this killed person) became the Orthodox Church secretary.

The Muthoot Bankers are great business people but kept a soft side towards the customers so they were greatly blessed in course of time in the business world of India. Mr. George is one of the billionaires of the world one among the 10 of Kerala origin.

On the other hand, Sri. George Senior's son and daughter in law, son was educated at England in medicine (F.R.C.S.), wife was a doctor too,
that whole family was killed in a terrible accident close to Cochin years back in an head on collision due to the reckless driving of a truck driver the Benz car was totally crushed this event shattered their joy of life.

Now, this event of the untimely death of 32 year Paul George was another blow to their life. His mother is running a great High school in New Delhi (Headmistress) which got national award for great performance.

Thank GOD, finally the culprits are caught and punished.
