India beat Sri Lanka, clinch Test series 2-1


Colombo, Sep 1 (IANS): India clinched the third Test match by 117 runs and with it the series, bowling out Sri Lanka for 268 on the fifth and final day of the match at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) ground here on Tuesday.

It was India's first away Test series win against Sri Lanka in 22 years.

Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews top scored with 110 while Indian pacer Ishant Sharma returned figures of 3-32.

India, thus clinched the series 2-1.
