Mangalore: Apolin D'Souza's Inspirational Music Album and Hymn Books Released

Mangalore, Jun 25: Apolinaris D'Souza from Valencia, Mangalore and current resident of Muscat, Sultanate of Oman, has been a big name in the world of Konkani and English hymnal music, but hidden behind a low-profile personality and attitude.

The whole D'Souza family is known for their melodious voices and musical aptitude for almost 40 years. Apolinaris, better identified as 'Apoly' or 'Apolin' amongs his friends' and admirers' circles, got a new album of Konkani hymns and a pair of hymn books, in English and Konkani, with musical notations, released at a family event held in the Bendur church hall on Sunday, June 24 evening.

While the CD album was released by Rosy Rasquinha, a senior family member - mother of Apolin's life-partner Joyce -, the Konkani hymn book was released by Apolin's long-time mentor and one of the pioneering musical maestros from Mangalore, Fr Walter Albuquerque SJ and the English one by Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Eric Ozario, himself an accomplished singer and a prolific song-writer.

Eric spoke as to how Apolin had been a music-maker by birth and his dedication towards this field of art and also his support to others looking for musical training.
