Bengaluru, Sep 2 (DHNS): The High Court on Tuesday directed the State government not to appoint anyone to the posts of chairman and members to the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) for a period of four weeks.

A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice S K Mukherjee and Justice B V Nagarathna passed the order while hearing a petition challenging the appointment made by the government.

Advocate General Ravivarma Kumar contended that they will not be able to frame the rules in the time granted by the court as they have already written to the Union government, but have not received any response. The bench adjourned the hearing for a month.

The Lokayukta police on Tuesday informed the High Court that the FIR registered against former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa is not completely based on Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report but also on the CID investigation.

The counsel representing Yeddyurappa sought directions from the Court not to file further FIRs against his client for which the counsel for the Lokayukta said that there was no provision restraining them from filing more FIRs.

Yeddyurappa has moved the court seeking quashing of FIRs filed by the Lokayukta police against him in connection with the denotification complaints.

He has contended that the FIRs have not been filed as per Section 12 of the Lokayukta Act which calls for a compliance report to be placed before the competent authority who is the governor in this case.

Secondly, the complaints about denotification and subsequent FIRs filed by Lokayukta police are based on the CAG (Comptroller and Auditor General) report and not on PAC (Public Accounts Committee) report which is normally placed on the floor of the House to decide on the matter, Yeddyurappa had contended.
