New German envoy presents credentials

New Delhi, Sep 2 (IANS): New German envoy Martin Ney on Wednesday presented his credentials to President Pranab Mukherjee at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

In his welcome message, Ney stressed that India and Germany have strong bilateral ties which were a great foundation to build on.

He said he was convinced that the upcoming inter-governmental consultations in Delhi and Chancellor Angela Merkel's visit in early October will provide another boost to the India-Germany partnership, said a statement from the German embassy.

"Germany is an ideal partner for India, having the expertise to support some of India's key initiatives such as 'Make in India', 'Skill India' and 'Smart Cities'," Ney said.

Ney -- who takes over from Michael Steiner -- emphasised that Germany was offering India a full-scale partnership.
