WABCO expands facility to increase head count in India


Chennai, Sep 2 (IANS): Belgium-based auto component maker WABCO on Wednesday said it anticipates the head count of software engineering and share services division in India to go up by 150 engineers over the next five years.

In a statement issued here, the company said it has opened a new 65,000 sq ft facility here to expand its software engineering and shared services capabilities, said a company statement.

WABCO plans to further leverage its world-class talent in India and expand its software engineering capabilities to support the local design of new products and systems for emerging markets as well as to contribute to the global development of advanced technologies for commercial vehicles.

"Since 2010, WABCO has more than doubled its software engineering talent pool in India to nearly 250 and anticipates enlarging its team by an additional 150 engineers over the next five years," the company said.

The new facility will also accommodate WABCO's business services team of approximately 110 professionals.

"We will further leverage WABCO India's superb talent pool and cost efficiency to support and differentiate the development of advanced technologies to help improve the safety and efficiency of commercial vehicles around the globe," Jacques Esculier, chairman and chief executive officer, was quoted as saying in the statement.
