Evacuation at Moscow airport after fire

Moscow, Sep 3 (IANS): Over 3,000 people were evacuated on Thursday from an airport in Russia's capital city of Moscow after a small fire erupted in its premises.

More than 50 flights were delayed from the Domodedovo International Airport, EFE news reported.

The evacuation began as the airport was engulfed in a cloud of smoke, which resulted from a small fire in a warehouse of a subcontractor working at the site.

The fire, which erupted in the baggage sector and covered an area of about 15 sq.mt,, was later put out.

The exact cause of the fire was yet not known, but it is thought to have been caused by an electrical short circuit.
