Medical college to come up in Odisha


Bhubaneswar, Sep 3 (IANS): The foundation stone of the Mahanadi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, a Rs.492 crore CSR project of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), was laid by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday at Odisha's Talcher city.

The foundation stone of the medical college was laid in the presence of union Energy Minister Piyush Goyal, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and state Health Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak besides local MP Tathagata Satpathy and MLA Braja Kishore Pradhan.

A MCL official said the medical college would have an intake capacity of 100, 500 beds, multi-specialty facilities in anatomy, bio-chemistry, microbiology, physiology, toxicology, pharmacology, pathology, community medicine, as well as a laboratory and library.

The college would have a separate hostel for boys and girls, and a hostel for junior resident doctors, said the official.
