Jung misused position to influence CNG scam probe: AAP

New Delhi, Sep 3 (IANS): The AAP on Thursday accused Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung of misusing his position to influence the ACB probe into the CNG scam.

"LG Najeeb Jung forced the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) to file a half-baked charge sheet in undue haste in the Rs.100 crore CNG fitness scam to save the real culprits who were behind this huge loss to the state exchequer," the Aam Aadmi Party said in a statement.

"The party is of the categorical view that the LG, whose own role in this scam is suspect, is trying to shield the ministers of the then Congress government and also its top officials," it said.

The AAP accused the lt. governor of making a U-turn on the CNG scam.

"It is intriguing that the LG, who had issued a public statement on June 9 to justify his decision of having denied prosecution sanction to certain top officials, whom the ACB had wanted to prosecute, has now suddenly changed his stand," the AAP said.

"The LG needs to tell the people of Delhi why is he scared of a thorough investigation in this scam and why is he interfering in the day-to-day functioning of the ACB?" the party asked.

The AAP also targeted the central government, saying it was helping the Congress by allowing the CNG scam to be buried by facilitating the illegal actions of the ACB chief appointed by the lt. governor.
